Shoplifter arrested and charged

During the course of an ongoing investigation, Officers from Wandsworth Common SNT identified a male they believed responsible for a series of thefts taking place at Sainsbury’s in Springfield Drive SW17. On 13th January 2026, a 39-year-old male was arrested by police in the Battersea area on suspicion of theft and taken into custody. The male was interviewed by police and subsequently charged for 7 counts of theft shoplifting from Sainsbury’s, Springfield Drive, SW17. He was remanded in custody to appear at Wimbledon Magistrates Court on 15th January 2026 where he has since pleaded guilty to the offences. He is currently awaiting sentencing.
